The Department offers 5 programmes in Architectural Technology  

Architectural Technology (Level 7 & 8)

The Architectural Technologist is involved with the technical issues of the architectural design process and plays the role of a technical designer. S/he is a team player who provides an expertise in technical design principles and knowledge in the development of the built environment. S/he is an organiser and coordinator of the diverse disciplines involved in the design and construction process. 

About the Course

This is a studio-led course involving working drawings and other construction related projects, with a range of lectures and site visits designed to contribute to the student’s comprehension and to the development of project work. 

Students in Year 4 of the programme have the opportunity to pursue specific areas of research critical to the built environment and architectural practice. Students identify individual areas of interest in the architectural process and conduct intensive research leading to expertise. The emerging specialism’s are sought by architectural practices and allied disciplines in architecture and construction and provide graduates with competitive skills.

Masters in Technical Architecture (Level 9) Taught-1 year

The Taught MSc in Technical Architecture develops the principals of Sustainable Technology, compliance, and architectural theory. This course aims to develop skilled professionals qualified to solve and manage complex problems related to Architectural Technology from advanced technical, design, environmental and cultural perspectives.

PhD in Technical Architecture (Level 10) Research 3 Years 

The Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture with a concentration in Building Technology and Performance is awarded for received and original scholarship that advances the use of building physics, building technology, modelling, and simulation for the design and operation of high-performing buildings.  This terminal degree program is complimentary to the Masters of Science
